Chateau Vurstjen (B)

Chateau Vurstjen (B)

This castle has its history from the 12th century. In the 14th century it fell into the hands of the Gent St. Bavo’s Abbey as a country house of the abbots.

Late 1500 it became the property of the Diocese of Gent. After the French Revolution was private property and in 1948 was held by the Belgian state and became a home for fishermen’s children.
There are many traces of the school to find, however also many destructions.
However it remains a very appealing building, it’s now vacant for over 20 years.
